Spanish Weather: Should I Bring My Coat?

Spain is one of the main tourist destinations in Europe. The country is very popular, primarily among British and Germans, because of its beaches.

Canary Islands, Balearic Islands and Mediterranean shora are the most visited. This set a kind of stereotype that makes many people think the weather is always great here. Which is more or less true for the islands and Mediterranean shore and specially if you compare it with British and German weathers.

In addition, the most famous places to visit for cultural purposes also are in cities that have hot weather. I think the most prominent are:

The country is quite big, and the weather varies a lot, but once people has visited the most famous places, chances are that they get interested about the rest of the country. Then, they start to visit places inland, which it usually is very surprising for them to discover that the weather is not so nice there.

Spanish inland is cold. It is not like Berlin or London of course, but you will likely find 0º or less temperature during winter. The visit is worth it, though. There are a lot of monuments to see, from roman architecture and ruins to Modernist buildings, by way of Medieval cities.

So, if you are thinking about visit the Spanish inland, take your coat with you. Do not rely in stereotypes for this, because if you do, you could get a cold as a memento.
